If you have a keen eye for art and design, this flexible course will enable you to progress your studies (full-time or part-time) by undertaking an academic thesis or substantial creative, design or industry-relevant piece of work related to your specialised area. Course specific information
This course is open to students who have completed a degree in the Faculty of Arts and Design with a grade point average of 5.0 or higher, or students from a three-year degree in a related discipline with a relevant major, in which they received a grade point average of 5.0 or higher.
The Bachelor of Arts and Design (Honours) is open to UC students who have completed a degree in the Faculty of Arts and Design with at least a grade point average of 5.0 or better (equivalent to a credit average), or students from a three-year degree in a cognate discipline with a relevant major in which they received a grade point average of 5.0 or better.
Pass degree graduates in similar disciplinary fields from other universities, with comparable results, may also be eligible to undertake this honours degree.
Additional admission requirements
Students are to undertake the thesis component of their degree in a subject area related to their disciplinary competence. They must show evidence of having performed in some subjects relevant to the proposed study at Distinction level or above.
All applicants must submit the Honours Supplementary Form, which will provided for completion after the submission of an application for admission.

Credit arrangements
There are currently no formal credit transfer arrangements for entry to this course. Any previous study or work experience will only be considered as part of the application process in accordance with current course rules and university policy.
Bachelor of Arts and Design (Honours) (298JA) | 24 credit points
- Students who completed 8900 Research in Creative Arts and Design H and 9489 Arts and Design Honours Symposium H can count these units towards their degree. From 2024 students must enrol in 11909 only.
- From 2024, all BRUCE and SOUTH BANK students are to complete 11909 Research Foundations G.
- 1. Thesis: 15,000 - 20,000 words in length, of formal academic prose, comprising a substantial piece of original research in an appropriate field.
- 2. Project: A substantial creative, design, or industry-relevant work, presented in a form appropriate to the field, accompanied by an exegesis (3,000 - 5,000 words in length).
