Linear Algebra and its methods are very powerful mathematical tools in many areas of common knowledge including science, economics, and technology. This unit may include the following topics: theory of linear spaces including vector spaces as well their extension to the Hilbert Spaces; advanced matrix algebra as an example of non-commutative ring with an unity; the concept of a function of a matrix including the concept of diagonalization, as well as the polynomial equations and the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra, and the notion of Eigenspaces; carious applications of Linear Algebra to Geometry, Social Sciences, Pure Mathematics, Economics, and Physics.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the Linear Algebra tools;
2. Analyse information based on the knowledge of the Linear Algebra tools; and
3. Apply Linear Algebra tools to the problem solving in various areas on the contemporary applications.
