Haig Park Experiments was a multiple award-winning 6-month, $1 million temporary activation of an unloved and unsafe green space Canberra’s inner city. Using creative placemaking and asset-based community development techniques, the UC-led consortium co-designed and delivered 26 ‘Experiments’ using installations and activations to deliver on community aspirations for Haig Park.  This project transformed Haig Park into a significantly safer and much loved community hub, with:

• 69% increase in daily visitation
• 277% increase in dwell time
• 614% increase in daily use by children
• 84% improvement in community perception
• 3000% increase in play
• Transformation from an unsafe to a safe place
• A place for experimentation
